BEFORE YOU BEGIN
This Scripture Study Canvas from STORY + STRAND was birthed out of my own journey of studying the Word with Holy Spirit as my Guide.
I offer this Canvas as an invitation for you to do the same.
YOU ARE NOT ANSWERING THESE QUESTIONS FOR ANYONE ELSE
There is no teacher waiting to grade your observations.
There is no perfect answer you need to produce.
You do not need to sound insightful.
You do not need to fill every space.
You do not need to prove that you understand more than you do.
This is simply space for you and the Lord to stay with the text together.
THIS WORK MOVES FROM REST.
That is one reason we begin with Colossians 1:12:
The Father has qualified you.
You are not studying Scripture in order to become qualified.
You are studying as someone who has already been welcomed, brought near, and given a place in Christ.
So take your time.
There is nothing here to prove.
When you study with others, you are not being asked to account for how much you completed or how well you answered each question.
The invitation is simply to share what you are learning.
You may choose to share a discovery, a question, a truth that has become clearer, or something you want to keep considering.
Share what you’re learning—not what you’ve accomplished.
YOUR RESPONSES ARE YOURS.
Read it slowly. Then read it again.
Don’t worry about figuring out what everything means yet.
For now, we’re simply going to notice what is there.
